Megger Promotes Substation Best Practice in Alaska
To meet the needs of electrical testing professionals seeking technologies that will help to enhance their company’s efficiency, effectiveness and reliability, Megger is presenting two free one-day seminars in Anchorage, AK. The seminars address some of the most important and costly issues relating to substation maintenance, and include extensive practical presentations.
The key focus of the Best Practices Substation Seminar and Product Showcase is HV circuit breaker testing and condition analysis, and the assessment of power transformers. All sessions include show-and-tell demonstrations of practical techniques for maximizing reliability, including the most commonly used methods and practices.
Among the topics covered in detail for circuit breakers are basic testing techniques, first trip testing, static and dynamic resistance measurements, vibration analysis, the formulation of test plans and reporting. Special considerations relating to HV, EHV, GIS and GCB applications are also discussed.
For power transformers, recent advances in condition analysis and assessment are presented, complemented by discussion and demonstration of the most useful and convenient test techniques. These include power factor testing, sweep frequency response analysis (SFRA) and insulation diagnostic analyzer (IDAX) applications.
Invaluable information is also provided on data collection, trending and analysis, as well as insights into how companies are coping with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) data collection and management requirements.
The presenters for the seminars are Mike Hensley and Robert Foster. Mike is a Technical Support Engineer with Megger in Dallas TX, and has more than five years’ experience of working with specialist test equipment for the power sector. Robert is an applications engineer with Megger. He is a specialist in high voltage circuit breaker and transformer testing, and he currently supports Megger products throughout North America.
Those attending the seminars also have the opportunity to meet and discuss their requirements with Senior Regional Sales Manager, Len Holets as well as Doug D’Ewart and D’Ewart representatives.
Megger’s Best Practices Substation Seminars are being held on May 20 and May 21 at the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel, Anchorage AK. The seminars run from 9:00am until 4:00pm.
