MRG Seeks Beta Test Sites for the Grease Thief Analyzer
MRG Labs has developed the Grease Thief Analyzer and sampling tools to measure the consistency of in-service grease samples. A Beta Test has been developed for the participation of several laboratories to optimize the method and provide design input.
During the project, laboratories will have the opportunity to test various types of grease for wear, consistency, contamination and oxidation using existing oil analysis instrumentation in conjunction with the Grease Thief Analyzer.
The selected participants in the beta test will receive the unit and all necessary consumables for the performance of 100 tests. In support of developing ASTM guidelines, MRG Labs will prepare round robin standards in our laboratory for bulk distribution to all beta sites. The round robin standards will include multiple baselines (new greases) and four different used samples, to include various contaminants (water, particulate, mixed greases), wear, oxidation or depletion of anti-oxidants, and consistency changes. The results from the round robin testing will support the development of a precision statement for the proposed ASTM standard.
MRG will provide ongoing service support and mentoring through the Beta Test process. Feedback we receive from beta test sites will be considered for the final design of the commercial unit. The participating labs will receive full-credit of the beta unit pricing when purchasing the commercial unit to upgrade from the Beta unit. When the commercial units are available, beta test sites will receive priority delivery.
Applications for the beta test participation are now being accepted. The cost of participation is $20,000 and allows these labs to be among the first to perform and offer low-cost routine grease analysis to their customers.
