New 5-day Learning Program Focuses on Improved Reliability Decisions
In April, C-More, the Centre for Maintenance Optimization and Reliability Engineering, is offering a new 5-day program that runs from April 12 to 16, 2010. The program is Better Physical Asset Management - Initiatives that Work.
C-More is a leading centre for industry-guided research in asset management attached to The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto.
This learning opportunity is designed for managers and practitioners of maintenance and reliability who are looking for improved approaches towards optimizing their decisions in order to cut costs, reduce interruptions, anticipate and spot trouble, and achieve greater output.
Managers from all corners of the globe, and from a wide variety of industrial and governmental organizations have attended earlier, similar programs offered by the university. Attendees have included line managers responsible for the maintenance of their machinery and equipment, reliability specialists who must recommend effective maintenance practices, asset managers responsible for organizations’ maintenance strategies, and plant managers who seek proven strategies that give them competitive advantage over their competitors.
This course will address state of the art of the need-to-know principles of asset management. It also includes some very new cutting-edge material that deals with “Evidence-Based Asset Management”. EBAM is intended to show that performing maintenance work based on rules-of-thumb, hunches and ‘experience’ is not nearly as effective as using obtainable historical information on which to base effective action plans.
Three highly qualified instructors will lead the classes. The overall leader and originator of this program is the internationally-respected Dr. Andrew Jardine, one of the most prominent figures in asset management field. He will be joined by Donald Barry, Associate Partner, Asset Management Solutions and Professional Services, IBM Global Business Services, and Dr. Ali Zuashkiani, Director of Educational Programs, C-More, and the author of Expert Knowledge Based Reliability Models.
