New Ultrasonic learning event for vendor-neutral application information exchange supports Predictive Maintenance and Green Reliability Programs

Ultrasonic detection is a rapidly growing technology area for predictive maintenance and involves the use of portable hand-held instruments to detect sounds in the range of 20 kilohertz (kHz) to 200 kilohertz (kHz). Applications include roller element bearing fault detection, lubrication monitoring, compressed air leak detection, steam trap testing, electrical detection of corona discharge and arcing, valve bypass detection and boiler, heat exchanger and condenser tube leak detection among others. Industrial facilities and public organizations have documented savings of tens of thousands of dollars in lost energy due to compressed air and gasses as well as bypassing steam traps and valves making ultrasound one of the most powerful Green technologies available to maintenance professionals.
An active call for papers is open through November 2, 2009.
