Current Imbalance
December 22, 2011
Remember that it is very common for an unloaded motor to operate with a high current imbalance. A 10 to 15% current imbalance may drop to a 2% imbalance when going from no load to full load. So, before initiating a motor repair work request for a motor with a high current imbalance, attempt to load the motor or correlate with off-line testing. It may save you from a very expensive paint job.
